Data Protection
You may already be aware that new data protection rules have recently come into effect. This applies to all personal data held by the Association of Falkirk Astronomers (AFA).
Membership Data
The AFA Treasurer is the association's Data Protection Officer. The Treasurer shall hold a register of members, containing each member's name, mailing address, email address, membership status and subscription history. Provision of a mailing and/or email address is optional.
For junior members (under 16 years), the register will additionally hold the name of a parent or guardian. The mailing and email address in the register should be those of the parent or guardian.
You have the right to view your personal data, change your personal data and have your personal data deleted from the list of members. Note however that for members who have paid subscriptions, the AFA is required to retain your details in their accounts for 7 years in accordance with HMRC rules.
To view or change your personal data, members should contact the Treasurer at one of the monthly meetings, or via the AFA's email address; falkirkastronomers@gmail.com. In the case of junior members, the parent or guardian must do this on the junior member's behalf.
Your name, mailing address and email address may be made available to other AFA office bearers for specific AFA business only. Any shared information will be deleted once the specific business is concluded.
The AFA will not share your personal information with any third party, except when legally obliged to do so.
